Meet the team at David Nugent & Co

David Nugent
Director

David has worked in accountancy practice for almost 40 years, working in small accountancy practices he qualified as ACCA in 1995. He started the practice in 2001, having taken over from his father. He is obtained FCCA status in 2001. The practice has since grown considerably advising many local owner managed businesses. David his built up a wide range of experience over the years in accountancy, personal tax, corporate tax, Capital Gains Tax and VAT and provides support to many different types of small business. Outside of work David’s interests are watching the best football team in Manchester, cycling, kayaking with his son and hill walking.

Leanne Evans
Office Manager

Leanne joined the firm in 2008 with no previous accounting experience, she is now an experienced AAT, and the office manager. Leanne has gained considerable experience on accounts preparation, corporate, personal tax, and VAT returns, being highly competent in her role. Having done the training Leanne is also a QuickBooks pro-adviser. Outside of work Leanne is kept busy looking after her two young daughters and Gucci (the dog).

Shadab Iqbal
ACCA Qualified Accountant

Shadab joined the firm in 2016, initially as a maternity cover, however is now a permanent, vital member of the team. She has a degree in Accountancy and has completed all her professional ACCA exams and is a Certified Chartered Accountant. She is responsible company and individual accounts and deals with all matters of Capital Gain Tax. Outside of work, Shadab is busy looking after her young son.

Anne Nugent
Admin Support

Anne has a great deal of experience in customer service, and provides administrative support to the practice. Anne’s role is arranging appointments, completing annual returns, contacting client’s writing letters, and Marketing. Anne’s interest outside of work are walking and reading. She is also on the board of governors at a local high school.

Connie Bradbury
Apprentice Accountant

Connie joined the firm in 2021 as an apprentice accountant who is studying for her AAT qualification. Connie is responsible for the payroll and auto-enrolment pension, along with working on VAT returns, sole trader, partnership & limited company accounts. She is also working on our QuickBooks and Capium accounts packages. She often answers the phone and has built a good working relationship with our clients Outside of work Connie enjoys socialising and going to the gym.

Plan 1 student loan interest rate to change to 6%

The Plan 1 student loan interest rate reduced to 6% (from 6.25%) from 30 August. This rate change applies across the UK with the Department for Education (DfE), the Welsh Government and the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland (DfE NI) all confirming the change.

Barratt Developments' profit drop sends ripples through construction and property sectors

Barratt Developments, the UK's largest housebuilder, has reported a significant decline in pre-tax profits, down by three-quarters for the year ending June 2024. This comes as the company completed just 14,000 homes, a sharp decrease from 17,000 the previous year, with forecasts suggesting even lower figures of 13,000 to 13,500 homes for the upcoming year.
